Session 3

Summary

My team was made up of me, Terra, and Bowen, and we called ourselves Low Budget.

21st Century Skills

I used critical thinking to solve any problems fast and efficiently, for example, the teleportation glitching out of bounds.

I communicated with my team using Trello and in person.

I used unity to design my game, C# to code the game, and piskelapp to design sprites.

I used my coordination to ensure the vital things that needed doing were done.

Skills Evidence

I was the coder for this development cycle, and I worked on parts of the art as well.

Reactions to the Final Version

“Clever using Potato Chips!” – Brian Favorite

“Good showing of xml tagging” – Sam

Brian was excited by the prospect of me using something new and liked my idea.

Sam liked that I followed directions, as I was the only one with xml tags.

Evaluation of Final Version

I used Unexpected to make people surprised to see a bag of chips and turn their surprise into delight.

What I learned and Problems I solved

I learned about 2d colliders and motion.

I also learned about coordinates and changing between them.

Session 2 Production Project

Summary

My goal was to master the song made by team 1.  Since that was impossible due to lack of song and technical issues, I worked on learning the art of mastering, which meant reading a lot of books.

21st Century Skills Demonstrated

I used my smarts to overcome any problems that presented themselves.

I demonstrated my ability to work well with others, and show what I have done using good writing language.

I used my kindle to read many books not found in the classroom, so I got the most out of my time.

Despite me not wanting to make my career in music, I will still enjoy playing music in my life.

Reactions to the Final Version

Most of the reactions to our song were good, with a lot of people

Evaluation of the Final Version

Our final version of the song included at least four principles: Simplicity, Unexpected, Emotional, and story-based.

Simplicity: Our song had only a few notes for the bass, drums, and singer, with the guitar being most diverse.

Unexpected: Our sad-love song contrasted with our happy beat.

Emotional: It’s genre was made to invoke emotion.

Story-based: Our song followed the story of a person who lost someone they loved or who didn’t have the courage to admit their love.

What I Learned and Problems I Solved

I learned how to use the school amps and instruments, and work well with a band.

I also learned how to match my rhythm with a guitarist.

In addition to all that, I also helped lyric write when our singer needed help, which for the first time had me struggle to write over a track.

School of Rock Production Paper

Summary

My goal was to make a banger bass line for our song, and to learn how to communicate within a band.

21st Century Skills Demonstrated

I used my smarts to overcome any problems that presented themselves.

I demonstrated my ability to work well with others, and show what I have done using good writing language.

I used my bass to create my part of the song, and study other songs on music apps.

Despite me not wanting to make my career in music, I will still enjoy playing music in my life.

Reactions to the Final Version

Most of the reactions to our song we’re positive, with everyone saying it was great, and only three (Mr. Anderson, Tristan, Mr. Walsh) people saying that the volume levels needed to be adjusted.  There were no complaints for the bass, except that the guitarist and I sometimes left the others behind when they made mistakes.
