Personal Success Definition

I define success as someone who is happy and makes others happy.

Keanu Reeves is successful because he has achieved happiness in his life.  He has a girlfriend, and despite his tragic past, is kind and generous.  In addition to this, he makes others happy with his movies, life choices, and attitude.  He is starring in Cyberpunk 2077, where he will bring joy to people playing the game.

Skills for Success

Keanu Reeves mastered the skill of being calm and collected, as well as the skill of acting.  He also must be a good talker, because I’ve always hung on his word.  Keanu’s training with various weapons and martial arts, along with more miscellaneous skills like horse riding, stuntman training, and other interesting hobbies.

How They Used These Skills

Keanu first starred in commercials and in minor roles for movies and shows.  Eventually, he acquired bigger roles, due to his good looks, unique style, and other things along those lines.  John Wick is arguably one of the best movies made, mostly due to Keanu Reeves nailing the performance as John Wick.

Challenges Overcome

Keanu Reeves had to overcome his tragic life and keep on giving.  His first child was stillborn, his wife died in a car crash, his best friend died, and his mother went through 4 husbands.

Significant Work

Keanu Reeves has starred in multiple shows and movies, with his best known movie being The Matrix.  He starred as Neo, and was the main lead throughout the series.  Another example of his movie success is the John Wick series.  Keanu stars as John Wick, the main character, and is a badass throughout all the movies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keanu_Reeves).  In addition, he is rumored to be first choice for the next Ghost Rider, an insanely popular character.  Keanu has said he loves making movies, and loves acting as an unexpected or anti-hero.

Week 9 – GTD – Getting Things Done – Part 1

SUMMARY

  • Write your weekly summary here, last, at the end of the week…
    • Only one to two sentences of WHAT YOU DID
  • DELETE ALL OF MR. LE DUC’s INSTRUCTIONS, AFTER YOU ARE DONE

This week I did a lot of coding, with Skript mostly, but a little python as well.  I also caught up on a lot of school work.

Things I need to do this week:

  • Ib Chemistry videos
  • Game Design Blogs
  • History A,B,C

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

I learned quite a few things about coding this week, including the fact that parenthesis and quotation marks are quite important.

Leadership Project

While I was watching the Alaska Airlines live stream, I noticed that there were many similarities with them starting in different fields or sub-areas, and then moving into the smaller, more defined job.  It made me wonder about how in my future I might end up in a job I didn’t expect to be in, and how useful it might be to practice skills in all related areas as well as the ones I would like to join.  The story of how one presenter started as a secretary, then learned enough programming so that the original programmer didn’t even need to come in to fix things really surprised me.  I wonder what a career change that must’ve been.  It also reminds me that the job I choose could branch into even unrelated fields, and that I should always keep an eye out for things I enjoy doing.

Mind like water

  • Role – Filmmaker/programmer
  • SMART Goal – By the end of the school year I will have gotten past 90% of the python programming class.
  • Why – I want to achieve this goal because when I finish the course I will have a substantial amount of knowledge regarding python and its uses, which is useful for my future careers and also when learning other languages.
  • How – I will achieve this goal by setting aside times every day when I work on python.
  • When – I want to work on my stretch goal at least 5 times a week but may do it more if I feel it is necessary.
  • Resources – The resources that I will use to achieve my goal are my PC and Udemy, as they contain all I need to practice my skills and learn my course.
  • Milestones – By April 23rd I want to be halfway through the functions module of the C++ tutorial and I intend to have my certificate by April 30th.
  • Heroines / Heroes – My Hero in this field would be Guido van Rossum, who made python.
  • Documentation – In the beginning I was sure I would completely finish the course by the end of the school year, which I still might, but recently lessons have been far more complex, therefore changing my expectations.

Stretch Goals

  • Role – Python Coder
  • Goal – My goal is to, by the end of the school year, have learned and mastered my python courses.
  • Why – I want to learn a valuable skill in today’s job world.
  • How – I will continue working on the courses on Udemy.
  • When – I will work on these on weekdays whenever I don’t have schoolwork to focus on.
  • Resources – I will use Udemy, where the courses are, IntelliJIdea, a code writer so I can use this knowledge, and a computer.
  • Milestones – My milestones are nicely defined in the courses in Udemy.
  • Heroines / Heroes – My hero would probably be Kevin Mitnick, as he used his knowledge of coding and social engineering to gain access to incredibly important information.  Later on in life, he formed a company to protect employers from people like himself.
  • Documentation — I made a video to familiarize myself with Adobe Premiere, a well-known tool of the digital workplace.https://www.flickr.com/photos/160916783@N06/49842780772/in/dateposted/

I’ve also completed quite a bit of python on Udemy.

“Have a mind like water.”

― David Allen,  GTD

SUMMARY

I worked on quite a few other projects, like learning illustrator, configuring a server, and finding an economical niche for ammunition.

OUTSIDE (PRODUCTIVITY & THE BRAIN)

I was thinking about the possible manipulation of the “happy chemicals” to create a state of perpetual happiness.  Then I realized that we would realize it wouldn’t be real.  The human mind is made to deal with problems.  I think it even seeks out problems when there are none.  We can only be happy for so long, before we want some sort of change.  That’s probably part of why we try new things.  We might be really good at checkers, but it becomes not as fun if you win every time.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

I learned how to navigate sneakonthelot.  I also learned how to use Flowscape, which is really cool and also useful for DnD.

Session 5

Summary

My team was solely me, and I worked on Unity AR, product design, python, kali linux, and a bunch of other things.

21st Century Skills

I used critical thinking to solve any problems fast and efficiently, for example, an incorrect version of kali fixed quickly.

I communicated with Sam using Trello and in person.

I used Kali Linux to hack, ideaj for python, and unity for AR.

I used my coordination to ensure the vital things that needed doing were done, like writing programs for network scanning.

Skills Evidence

I was the coder man for the cycle.

What I learned and Problems I solved

I learned about MAC and IP addresses.

I also learned about python and how to use it.

Solo Project Proposal

Summary:

Role:

Solo Coder.  I have prepared many different resources and classes to use and study during this period.

Intention (SMART Goal):  I want to complete the Cybersecurity course on Udemy.

I will be learning Python, Java, and advanced cybersecurity and cybersecurity penetration.

I will measure my progress and success by building a schedule around the course online: https://www.udemy.com/course/learn-python-and-ethical-hacking-from-scratch/

I am currently working to achieve the goal.  I have the skills, and my motivation is that this is what I want to do later in life.

I am setting this goal because it deals with code, is relevant to my life and career, and future in general.

The deadline is the end of the school year.  It is my intent to learn as much about this as I can, and if needed I will continue this project after the year ends.  I think it is realistic to at the very least get close to finishing this project by the end of the year.

Session 4 production School of Rock

Summary

My goal was to keep the song together with the bass and provide solid background music.

21st Century Skills Demonstrated

I used my smarts to overcome any problems that presented themselves.

I demonstrated my ability to work well with others and show what I have done using good writing language.

I used my phone to look up how to play certain riffs better.

Despite me not wanting to make my career in music, I will still enjoy playing music in my life.

Reactions to the Final Version

Most of the reactions to our song were good, with a lot of people praising the bass part.

“The bass is the glue keeping this together!” – Favorite

Brian’s response supported the fact that my part helped keep it together.

Evaluation of the Final Version

Our final version of the song included at least two principles: Simplicity & Unexpected.

Simplicity: Our song had only a few notes for the bass & drums.

Unexpected: Our line went from rock to something else, without any clear shift.

What I Learned and Problems I Solved

I learned how to use the school amps and instruments, and work well with a band.

I also learned how to match my rhythm with a guitarist.

Session 4

Summary

My team was made up of me, Terra, and Bowen, and we called ourselves Low Budget.

21st Century Skills

I used critical thinking to solve any problems fast and efficiently, for example, the animation failing in menu.

I communicated with my team using Trello and in person.

I used unity to design my game, C# to code the game, and piskelapp to design sprites.

I used my coordination to ensure the vital things that needed doing were done, like the UI with animated buttons.

Skills Evidence

I was the level artist for this development cycle, and I worked on parts of the code as well.

The Game creation

Reactions to the Final Version

“Clever using Potato Chips!” – Brian Favorite

“Good showing of xml tagging” – Sam

Brian was excited by the prospect of me using something new and liked my idea.

Sam liked that I followed directions, as I was the only one with xml tags.

Evaluation of Final Version

I used Unexpected to make people surprised to see a bag of chips and turn their surprise into delight.

What I learned and Problems I solved

I learned about 2d colliders and motion.

I also learned about animations and how to make them.
